Jason Kwong is Chief Innovation Officer at Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, a vertically integrated entertainment company that spans streaming, DVD, film & TV distribution, and TV production, overseeing new initiatives for the company’s future growth, leading strategy, business development, and partnerships to that end.
Mr. Kwong was previously Chief Strategy and Digital Officer for Redbox (acquired by CSSE), where he drove the transformation from focused DVD rental business to a multi-faceted entertainment company with 41MM loyalty members, launching and growing multiple digital businesses which include Redbox’s Transactional Video on Demand (TVOD), Ad Supported Video on Demand (AVOD), Free Ad Supported Television (FAST) channels, as well as digital-out-of-home (DOOH).
He has an extensive background in digital media and entertainment at companies that were leading digital disruption. His roles spanned content, business development, and strategy. He’s held roles in mobile entertainment at Helio and Virgin Mobile, where he ran business development for all data and content services on the platform – spanning music, video, games, social, and location services. He was part of the launch team and led content acquisition, merchandising, and strategy for the Otter Media-owned, Fullscreen’s SVOD service. And he was responsible for business development and licensing at Warner Bros. Digital Distribution, as well as running the mobile apps & games P&L. And finally, he worked in content acquisition managing major studio film partnerships at Netflix.
Mr. Kwong received his B.A. in Economics and Psychology from University of California, Los Angeles and his MBA from University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business.
