Crystal Wang English Sacca

Founding Partner, Lowercarbon Capital

Crystal Sacca co-founded Lowercarbon Capital, the world’s leading fund for early-stage climate tech startups. At Lowercarbon, she backs companies pursuing the world’s most ambitious solutions to the climate crisis.

Crystal draws on her experience as a co-founder of Lowercase Capital, where she co-led seed deals including Uber and Blue Bottle Coffee, and her years as a globally-renowned advertising creative helping companies like Audi, Intel, Barclays, HBO, and Sprint speak to a worldwide audience with thought-provoking wit and insight.

Known as an accomplished author and designer, Crystal’s first book, The Essential Scratch & Sniff Guide to Becoming a Wine Expert, was a New York Times Bestseller and Amazon #1. Her follow-up book, The Essential Scratch & Sniff Guide to Becoming a Whiskey Know-It-All, was also a critically acclaimed bestseller.

Crystal has served on the Board of Trustees of the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum. She believes in the power of design to change the world—from climate solutions and justice to diversity and inclusion and served as the Co-Chair of the museum’s Engagement and Experience Committee to see that vision through. Today, Crystal is a Trustee on the National Board of the Smithsonian Institution.

Crystal is an all-American Foreign Service, third-culture kid raised by parents who worked for the U.S. State Department. She spent her childhood in Vietnam, Mauritania, The Gambia, Swaziland, Japan, and India and graduated cum laude from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service with a B.S.F.S. majoring in Humanities and International Affairs, winning an American Foreign Service Association scholarship.

Beyond her investing, service, activism, and philanthropy, Crystal can be found designing, traveling the world, hiking, practicing yoga, playing competitive pickleball, skiing, surfing, brushing up her Muay Thai skills, fly fishing, painting, and raising three gutsy girls in the mountains of Montana.
