Son Heung-min

Professional Soccer Player, LAFC

Son Heung-min is a South Korean professional footballer widely regarded as the greatest Asian player in the history of the sport. Known for his explosive speed, lethal finishing with both feet, and humble leadership, he spent a transformative decade at Tottenham Hotspur, where he became a global icon. During his time in North London, he achieved historic milestones, including becoming the first Asian player to win the Premier League Golden Boot in 2022 and surpassing 100 Premier League goals. His tenure at Spurs culminated in May 2025 when he captained the club to the UEFA Europa League title, ending a 17-year trophy drought and cementing his status as a club legend before departing for Major League Soccer.

Son has successfully transitioned to the next chapter of his career with Los Angeles FC (LAFC). Since joining the MLS in August 2025, he has continued his prolific form, winning the 2025 MLS Goal of the Year for a stunning free-kick debut and recording 12 goals in just 13 appearances. On the international stage, he remains the talismanic captain of the South Korean national team. With 142 caps and 54 international goals, he is currently on the verge of breaking Cha Bum-kun’s all-time scoring record as he prepares for his fourth FIFA World Cup in the summer of 2026. His influence extends far beyond the pitch, as he remains a recipient of the Cheongnyong Medal—South Korea’s highest sporting honor—and a vital cultural bridge between Asian and Western football.
