SASWAT PANIGRAHI
Saswat Panigrahi is Chief Product Officer at Waymo, an autonomous driving technology company with a mission to be the world’s most trusted driver.
In this role, Saswat manages Waymo’s engineering and commercial roadmaps across our business lines of ride-hailing, long haul trucking and local delivery. He leads functions that include strategy, product management, technical program management, user experience research and design, industrial design, and product data science for Waymo. Having joined Waymo in 2016, he was part of Waymo’s launch of the first fully autonomous public ride-hailing service in Phoenix, and the start of fully autonomous operations in San Francisco. He was previously the company’s VP of Strategy, Product Management and Data Science.
Before Waymo, he was the Senior Product Manager at Google, working on Chrome Browser, Chromebooks, and Android in Germany and the U.S. Prior to Google, he held roles of Software Developer, Product Manager and Line Manager at Ericsson in Canada, China and Sweden leading a group of engineers, pre-sales, program and product managers in his last role. He also worked as a research engineer at McGill University.
Saswat earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kanpur, his master’s in electrical and computer engineering at McGill University in Canada and Masters in Business Administration from IMD in Switzerland.
AMAR K. MEHTA
Amar K. Mehta is the Chief Legal Officer at Waymo, an autonomous driving technology company with a mission to be the world’s most trusted driver.
In his role, Amar is responsible for legal, insurance, global public policy, and government relations. His purview leading legal includes Waymo’s financing and corporate development transactions, worldwide commercial and strategic deals, litigation and law enforcement matters, and regulatory compliance and product safety, security and privacy counseling. Amar also leads development and enforcement of the company’s industry-leading IP portfolio and development of the company’s first-in-kind autonomous vehicle technology insurance underwriting, coverage and claims functions. In addition, he leads the global public policy and government relations team for Waymo, which is responsible for engaging with lawmakers and regulators in the U.S. and around the world to help create safe and sensible rules for AV deployment.
Before becoming Waymo’s Chief Legal Officer, as Deputy General Counsel, Amar oversaw the IP, Commercial, Corporate, and Employment legal functions and Waymo’s corporate development function. Prior to Waymo, Amar was a senior member of Google’s IP group, leading teams that covered Android, Chrome, Play, Hardware and YouTube. Before joining Alphabet, he was Partner and Chief Legal Officer at Altitude Capital Partners, a private equity firm that generated more than $700 million from IP investments. Earlier in his career, Amar litigated IP matters at Fish & Richardson and was an investment banker in Credit Suisse First Boston’s technology group.
Amar holds a SB and MEng degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
