Samarpita is an accomplished hardware engineer with experience designing motherboards, microcontrollers, and embedded systems. She is the author of 7 patents for hardware she has built, including for the DoD. Prior to cofounding Root Access, she was a Senior Hardware Engineer at Novanta, a publicly-traded company specializing in photonics and industrial systems. Samarpita earned her dual masters in electrical engineering and applied mathematics from NYU, alongside her undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Mumbai. She is also an avid contributor to open-source math puzzles, which she’s been doing since 7 years old through the encouragement of her loving father.
Ryan is the former COO of a venture-backed company with several years of experience designing systems across physical and digital technologies. Before that he was a Database Analyst at Oracle in their global enterprise cloud division. Ryan played Division 1 soccer at the University of San Francisco where he graduated top of his class in Philosophy while dual majoring in Political Science. A self-dubbed “athletic nerd”, Ryan built his first computer at 12 years old, is a 3x district chess champion, and broke his middle school track record running a 4:56 mile. Ryan is also a longstanding volunteer for the Maker Faire, a worldwide community focused on helping share the love of technical creativity.
