Lee started fencing at 7 years old. Over the span of her 20 year career, she competed in 9 World Championships and 3 Olympic games, taking home the gold in Tokyo 2021. Fencing led to to collegiate fencing and a pre-medicine track at the University of Notre Dame in 2012. Continuing her education, she started medical school at the University of Kentucky in 2017. She currently resides in Lexington, KY with her husband Gerek Meinhardt who is also any Olympic fencer with sights on Paris 2024 and becoming a physician.
