Emma Raducanu

U.S. Open Tennis Champion

Emma Raducanu is a British-Chinese professional tennis player and the current reigning US Open champion. Her US Open title was the first Grand Slam singles win by a British woman since Virginia Wade during the 1977 Wimbledon Championships.

Making her WTA Tour debut in June 2021, she was a wildcard entry at Wimbledon, ranking outside of the top 300, ultimately reaching the fourth round in her first major tournament. At the US Open two months later, Raducanu became the first singles qualifier in the Open Era to win a Grand Slam title, beating Leylah Fernandez in the final without dropping a set in the tournament. It was the second Grand Slam tournament of her career; she holds the Open Era record for the fewest majors played before winning a title.
