Dado & Mario Banatao

Founders & Managing Partners of Tallwood Venture Capital, Inventor of PC Chip, & Philanthropists

Dado and Maria Banatao are not only visionaries in technology and entrepreneurship, but also in philanthropy and community involvement. Dado invented two of the foundation technologies still in every PC: the PC chip set and the graphics acceleration architecture. He served as the managing partner and founder of Tallwood Venture Capital, a venture firm focused on semiconductor technology solutions for computing, communication, and consumer platforms.

 

Dado and Maria also established the Banatao Family Filipino American Education Fund and the GLOBE Center for Global Learning and Outreach from Berkeley Engineering (GLOBE). They have received awards from UC Berkeley as founding members of CITRIS. Dado continue to serve on the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS) Advisory Board and the Berkeley Engineering Advisory Board, and is the founder and Chairman of PhilIppine Development Foundation. Maria has served in the past on the Boards of the Lucille Packard Foundation for Children’s Health, and the University of California, Berkeley Foundation and is currently a Trustee with Philippine Development Foundation and a Chancellor Fellow of University of California, Berkeley.
