Breakout actress Amber Midthunder was recently named one of Variety’s 10 Actors to Watch this year for her critically acclaimed performance as the star in PREY, the prequel to the Predator franchise. Midthunder leads the cast as Naru, a skilled warrior of the Comanche Nation, who fights to protect her tribe against one of the first highly evolved Predators to land on Earth. The film broke records as the most-watched premiere for Hulu for both film and TV on the streaming service.
Next up, Midthunder will be seen in Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender as Princess Yue, the compassionate spiritual leader of the Northern Water Tribe.
Midthunder was last seen in THE WHEEL, for which she produced and starred in. She was also recently seen as the female lead in Netflix’s thriller THE ICE ROAD opposite Liam Neeson for director Jonathan Hensleigh, which Netflix acquired in a record-breaking $18 million EFM domestic deal. Midthunder plays Tantoo, an ice road expert tasked with the dangerous mission of driving across an ocean of thin ice in an eighteen-wheeler truck to save her brother who’s trapped in a mine.
Additionally, Midthunder can be seen on the small screen on the hit CW reboot of ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO. The fan favorite series premiered its third season this past summer 2021. Also on the TV side, Midthunder recently starred in the Marvel series, LEGION for FX, where she captivated audiences with her role as Kerry Loudermilk.
Midthunder is one of a handful of Native Americans in the industry, and one of the first to lead a franchise film. She is an enrolled member in the Fort Peck Sioux Tribe and a huge supporter of her community. Her philanthropic efforts are focused on representation in the industry, environmentalism, and the humane treatment of animals.
