Eric Kim and Chi-Hua Chien are the Founders of Goodwater Capital, the world’s largest consumer tech-focused venture capital platform with over $2 Billion of assets under management. Eric and Chi-Hua have invested in and helped entrepreneurs build 17 unicorn ($1B+) companies including iconic consumer technology brands Facebook, Coupang, Twitter, Spotify, Kakao, musically / TikTok, Toss, Weee!, Monzo, Stash, and EverlyWell.

Prior to co-founding Goodwater, Chi-Hua was a General Partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and an Associate at Accel Partners. Chi-Hua was an early employee or co-founder of four startups prior to becoming a venture investor. Chi-Hua fell in love with startups at Stanford University where he earned four degrees in engineering, economics, and business. At Stanford, he was named a Mayfield Fellow, President’s Scholar, and Arjay Miller Scholar. He enjoys staying close to the Stanford community and co-teaches the undergraduate Technology Entrepreneurship course at the Engineering School. Chi-Hua also serves on the board of charity: water, a non-profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

Prior to co-founding Goodwater, Eric was a Managing Director at Maverick Capital where he helped to build Maverick’s private investment practice. Eric was also a startup member of two technology companies spun out of Stanford University. Eric began his career as a consultant with McKinsey & Company. Eric first learned to code as an undergrad at Yale University where he majored in Cognitive Science (Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude) and was a member of the Grammy-nominated Yale Cellos. Eric also received an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business which is where Eric and Chi-Hua first met. Eric serves on the advisory board of the Johns Hopkins Alliance for Science and Technology and the board of St. Thomas More Chapel at Yale University.
