Zohran Mamdani was sworn in as the 112th Mayor of the City of New York on January 1st, 2026. Prior to becoming Mayor, he represented the 36th New York State Assembly District and its neighborhoods of Astoria, Ditmars-Steinway, and Astoria Heights.

He is the first Muslim and first person of South Asian descent to serve as Mayor of the City of New York and is the youngest mayor the city has seen since 1892.
