CHRIS DOWN
Chris Down has spent over three decades creating play across multiple industries. He has designed board games for Parker Brothers, produced award-winning video games for Hasbro Interactive, co-founded Atari’s innovation practice, Atari Labs, and currently leads global design and innovation for toymaker, Mattel. As the company’s EVP and Chief Design Officer, Chris is responsible for product design, consumer insights, and innovation across Mattel’s broad range of multi-generational, brands including Barbie, American Girl, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price, UNO, Masters of the Universe, and dozens more. With a professional background in physical play, digital gaming, industrial design, and business management, Chris intimately understands the dynamics between the power of brand, the value of play, and how getting it right translates into consumer love and sustainable business value.
Chris graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Industrial Design and completed the Executive Program in Business Administration at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management. Outside of work, play continues, whether dealing a round of Phase-10 with the family or suffering on the bike trails. In both his professional and personal life, Chris champions the transformative power of play!
KEN WEE
Ken Wee is Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of Mattel. He joined Mattel in 2024. In his role, Mr. Wee leads Mattel’s Corporate Strategy and Corporate Development functions, and is focused on identifying opportunities to accelerate growth and deliver shareholder value across Mattel’s brands. Before joining Mattel, Mr. Wee served as Chief Strategy Officer at Activision Blizzard, one of the leading interactive entertainment companies. In this capacity, he was responsible for Activision Blizzard’s corporate strategy and drove organic M&A initiatives to grow the reach, engagement, and commercial success of Activision Blizzard’s portfolio of franchises with over 400 million active players, culminating in Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Prior to joining Activision Blizzard in 2019, Mr. Wee was a Partner at the global management consulting firm McKinsey & Company. There he led McKinsey’s Interactive Entertainment Practice and served clients in media, technology, and private equity globally. He previously worked at New Mountain Capital, a leading investment fund. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Behaviour Interactive, a leading Canadian video game publisher known for the award-winning Dead by Daylight franchise.
