Imran Majid

Co-Chairman and CEO, Island Records

Island Records Co-Chairman and CEO Imran Majid leads with an artist-first approach, fostering a culture that encourages both artists and teams to take creative risks and push boundaries. Alongside Co-Chairman and CEO Justin Eshak, he has helped guide what Variety has described as “Island Records’ new dynasty,” supporting a new generation of breakout talent including Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Olivia Dean, Lola Young, Gigi Perez, Wyatt Flores, Suki Waterhouse, Carin León and Charley Crockett, while continuing to build on the legacies of iconic acts such as Bon Jovi and The Killers.

Majid began his career at Universal Motown in 2004, where he first met Eshak. He soon moved into A&R at the newly formed Republic Records, where they worked together before joining Columbia Records in 2013. In 2018, they were promoted to Co-Heads of A&R. At Columbia, Majid helped develop and support artists including Lil Tjay, Rosalía, Russ, and Polo G. In 2022, he and Eshak were appointed Co-CEOs of Island Records by Universal Music Group Chairman and CEO Sir Lucian Grainge.

Under Majid and Eshak’s leadership, Island’s roster has earned expanded GRAMMY® recognition. In 2025 and 2026, Island artists Chappell Roan and Olivia Dean won Best New Artist in consecutive years, making Island the first label in decades to represent back-to-back annual winners in the category. Billboard also named Majid and Eshak “Executives of the Year.”

Majid has been recognized on Billboard’s annual Power 100 for four consecutive years, is a Gold House A100 Honoree, and has been featured by Variety, Music Business Worldwide, and HITS. He is based in New York City.
